The song with the best lyrics from that album is clearly The Great Gig in the Sky

Dark side of the moon is one the few albums that I have listened to cover to cover. Saw “The Machine” perform it with the wizard of oz on a projector. I saw Rodger Waters perform it in Philadelphia circa 2013. Also we listened to it a hand full of times while tripping face circa college years . I feel like the last one is the most common.

I was actually in high school and had yet to do any drugs when I saw the wizard of oz show. I guess it would have been 2001/2002.

Can’t find it right now, but there’s clip of Roger talking about the genesis of UAT , and how it was originally written for one of Michelangelo Antonioni ’s projects. Antonioni loved it, but said he couldn’t use it: “It’s beautiful, but is it too sad, you know? It makes me think of church. ” . I love that interpretation .

The Oz thing is fun, but it’s based on people being pretty messed up. IMO, it starts to break down not long after the poppy fields which is coincidentally when people sort of lose interest in the movie.

Love DSOTM. Most timeless album of any modern
genre, IMO. The sales charts seems to agree.
Here’s an early Roger Waters demo of Money. Sort of underscores how much fancy production goes into Floyd, but also how well their songs can be deconstructed or scaled down as needed.

Totally agree. I barely watched the movie.

Supposedly, ‘
Echoes
’ off the Meddle album synchs up with the finale of 2001 if you start the movie just as the third piano note sounds on Echoes
and t
he “Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite” title card comes up .
I’ve never tried though.
